Jen has been providing acupuncture to the Kitsilano area for over 20 years.

Jen has been getting her kicks by sticking needles into people since 2001.  She spent the last decade at Joy pre and postnatal, honing her skills in perinatal care while continuing to build her general practice. Prior to entering the fascinating world of TCM, she worked as a certified dental assistant. She is always happy to answer your dental questions! Jen's approach works best for people in acute or chronic, physical, spiritual or mental pain, perinatal support, digestive issues or weary life travelers seeking a soft place to land.

Ask Jen

Jen, what is it you love about acupuncture and Chinese Medicine?

I love to help and support others. It’s my essential character and where I’m most comfortable outside of being in nature. And I love a good mystery. I find it so rewarding to follow clues to discover where and why clients’ systems shift out of balance and then collaborate on solutions that restore optimal health. Chinese Medicine offers a lens of looking at one’s unique ecosystem and sees patterns of imbalance and solutions that are different from other practices of health care.

How did you come to the wonderful world of Chinese Medicine?

In 1995, I spent ten months traveling around Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia. I had to end my trip early and returned home to Canada suffering from an undiagnosed condition with malaria-like symptoms. None of the health professionals I saw could figure out what was wrong or how to treat it. I was referred to an acupuncturist and it was through my sessions with him that I recovered.

I loved how I felt during and after the treatments. The homework he gave me was fun and interesting, so I began to learn more. Eventually, I started practicing qigong with him. CM became my life’s passion and I returned to school to turn that calling into a career. I haven’t looked back since.

Who are your ideals clients?

I really strive to create a safe and respectful place for people struggling with health issues or experiencing physical, emotional, or spiritual pain. And I am skilled at pre and post-natal support.
